The Squalicum boys' basketball team was able to come back late in the fourth quarter to defeat Blaine 64-57 in a Northwest Conference game Thursday, Jan. 10, in Blaine.
"They had the lead throughout but then we were able to go up by one with about two minutes to go," Blaine coach Shaun Pile said in a phone interview. "We then had back-to-back turnovers that turned into back-to-back threes for them and that was pretty much the game. It was a good game, though."
The Borderites (3-10, 1-5 NWC) were led in scoring by Josiah Westbrook, who scored 15 points and had four assists, and Zach Rector, who scored 13.
The Storm (8-7, 3-3 NWC) was led by Blake Youtsey, who scored 21 points.
"Youtsey did a great job being aggressive and really carried them and did a good job on offense," Pile said.
Blaine travels to Sehome on Monday, Jan. 14, while Squalicum hosts Nooksack Valley on Tuesday, Jan. 15, both Northwest Conference games.
