Wants community vote on school changes

Published: January 10, 2013

In my 35 years with the Ferndale School District I have never known our administrators to make so many unwanted and costly changes. Some of the proposed changes the district is advocating include: Closing an elementary school, changing boundaries, relocating students and staff as well as moving sixth grade to middle school (which a task force and community members already said no to when Horizon was built).

There has been weak justification given to validate making all these changes. I believe our school board members are genuinely trying to base decisions on community sentiment, therefore, I am asking you to call or write board members and ask that all changes stop! School closure, staff and student relocation, boundary changes (everything!) and put a vote to the community.

I recognize that the planning for these changes is well under way, but I also recognize that they have not yet happened, which means there is still time to be heard.

Please ask for a community vote!
