The Sehome girls' basketball team jumped out to a quick start with Hallie Messenger's four 3-pointers in its 45-32 win over Mount Baker in a Northwest Conference game Tuesday, Jan. 8, at Sehome High School.

The Mariners (8-5, 4-1 NWC) outscored Mount Baker 17-4 in the first quarter.

"I thought we played a really good first quarter and a good fourth quarter," Sehome coach Kim Kirk said in a phone interview. "Credit to Baker, they turned it up on defense in the second and third and forced us into some silly turnovers."

Mount Baker (5-7, 0-4 NWC) was able to force 28 turnovers and had only 18 of its own.

Rachel Albert led the Mariners with 15 points, 17 rebounds, seven assists and seven blocks.
