Meridian girls almost come back, lose 40-33

Published: January 9, 2013

The Meridian girls' basketball team lost to Friday Harbor 40-33 in a non-conference game Tuesday, Jan. 8, at Meridian High School.

"I was actually very pleased with how the girls played," Meridian coach Don McMains said in a phone interview. "We just really struggled to put the ball in the basket. Even though it can be easy to get down when you're not shooting well, this team never does."

The Trojans (1-11, 0-5 NWC) were led by Taylor Lunde, who scored 11 points and had 14 rebounds, and Allecia Galindo, who scored 11 points.

"Taylor was just outstanding and was all over the floor on both ends of the court and was a great example," McMains said. "They did a great job sticking together as a team. They really worked in the fourth and put themselves in the position to come back."

Meridian travels to Ferndale on Friday, Jan. 11, for a Northwest Conference game.
