The Lynden boys' swim team defeated Burlington-Edison 125-41 in a Northwest Conference meet on Tuesday, Jan. 8.
The Lions (3-1, 3-1 NWC) were led by John VanWingerden, who won the 200 individual medley in 2 minutes, 26.2 seconds, and the 100 breaststroke in 1:13. VanWingerden was also part of the winning 200 medley relay with Jeffrey Propersi, Vincent Audier and Giovanni Galarza that recorded a time of 1:57.4, and the 200 freestyle relay with Propersi, Galarza and Jan Wolfisberg, that swam it in 1:44.6.
"John had a good meet with a lot of good time for him," Lynden coach Steve Gibb said in a phone interview. "We have a number of kids out being sick and the other kids are working hard and stepping up."
Lynden will next swim against Sedro-Woolley in Anacortes on Thursday, Jan. 10.
