Lummi falls 33-26 in girls' basketball

Published: January 9, 2013

The Lummi girls' basketball team fought back, but it wouldn't be enough as it fell 33-26 at home to Lopez in a Northwest League 1B game on Tuesday, Jan. 8.

"It was a fierce and competitive game and we are really proud of the girls as a team," Lummi coach Woody Bakke said. "We played hard from the beginning to the end. But our key to our game, our transition, was inconsistent and we had a lot of missed shots and turnovers."

Lummi (1-8, 1-5 NWC) was shut out of the third quarter, but came back to outscore Lopez 10-3 in the fourth to pull within seven.

Lummi was led in scoring by Dawn James, who scored 10, and Treena Humphreys and Samantha Wilson, who each scored five.

The Blackhawks will play Tulalip on Friday, Jan. 11.
