Martin Sloley won the 200 freestyle in Bellingham's lone win against a tough Anacortes boys' swim team in a 117-68 Northwest Conference defeat Tuesday, Jan. 7, in Anacortes.
The Red Raiders dropped to 1-3, 1-3 NWC while the Seahawks improved to 3-0, 3-0 NWC.
Sloley won his event in 1 minute, 58.97 seconds as Bellingham had swimmers place first, third and fourth in the 200 freestyle.
"Martin did well in the 200, that was probably our best event," Bellingham coach Jeff Anderson said in a phone interview.
Anderson mentioned freshman swimmer Grant Hildreth as having a top swim, improving on his best time by four seconds in the 100 freestyle. The Red Raiders had 30 best times as a team.
Ferndale swimmer Jonny Chang finished first in the 100 breaststroke in 1:08 (does not count toward Bellingham's team score).
