The Meridian boys' basketball team held Friday Harbor to three single-digit scoring quarters as the Trojans beat the Wolverines 45-27 in a non-conference, early-afternoon game Tuesday, Jan. 8, at Meridian High School.
Meridian led 17-6 after the first quarter, but after giving up 14 points in the second quarter, the Trojans limited the Wolverines to just seven second-half points - four in the third, three in the fourth.
"Defensively, especially in the first quarter, our energy level was excellent," Meridian coach Shane Stacy said in a phone interview. "Logan Carlson has quite a motor, and when that motor gets going, he directs it to do good things."
Carlson scored only four points, but collected five offensive rebounds, handed out three assists and did "a lot of little things" Stacy was pleased with.
Edward Garcia led the Trojans with 11 points and Alijah Garcia added 10. Blake Briones and Carlson each grabbed seven boards.
Meridian (6-6, 1-3) hosts Ferndale next in a Northwest Conference game at 7:15 p.m. Friday, Jan. 11.
