Dec. 28 is observed as The Holy Innocents by Lutherans, and Catholics call it The Feast of the Holy Innocents. In the Bible, King Herod is described as furious that a child called "King of the Jews" by men who studied the stars threatened his reign, so he ordered his soldiers to kill all boys in the Bethlehem area who were 2 years old and younger. For different reasons, innocents die today, and we are not blameless. Over 176 innocent children in Pakistan and Afghanistan have recently been killed by weaponized drones authorized by the president of the USA. Beyond mourning the death of these innocent children, we can write or phone the president (202-456-1111) to insist that he abandon the use of these illegal and immoral killer drones. Will we?
