The Nooksack Valley girls' wrestling team finished second out of 24 teams at the Woolley Women's Wrestling Tournament on Saturday, Jan. 5.

Chloe Gardner placed first at 137 pounds while Kylee Dekoekkek placed second at 155 pounds. Also placing for the Pioneers were Jessica Jose (sixth at 100 pounds), Alexandra Parson (third at 118), Alberta Garcia (third at 124), Toni York (sixth at 130) and Amber Cramsey-Behnke (third at 235).

"I'm so proud of them," Nooksack Valley coach Michelle Dekoekkek said in a phone interview. "All of our returners placed. They all improved."

Mount Baker placed first at the tournament.
