Balanced attack leads Lyncs girls to 56-33 win

Published: January 8, 2013

The Lynden Christian girls' basketball team used a balanced attack in its 56-33 victory at Anacortes in a Northwest Conference game on Monday, Jan. 7.

"Neither team shot the ball well in the first quarter," Lynden Christian coach Curt DeHaan said in a phone interview. "It was a defensive battle. I was really pleased with how the girls played in the second half and we finished strong."

Lynden Christian (10-2, 4-1 NWC) was led in scoring by Kayla Tiemersma, who scored 12 points and had 10 rebounds, and Karley De Jager, who scored 11. Point guard Makayla Lancaster led the team with 11 rebounds.

"I don't have point guards that do that often, and she had three steals, too," DeHaan said.

Lynden Christian will play at Lynden on Friday, Jan. 11, at 5:45 p.m. in a double header with the boys' teams.
