Bench play helps Lynden to win over Nooksack Valley

Marcus Fakkema and Bret DeGraaff had productive games off the bench as the Lynden boys' basketball team defeated visiting Nooksack Valley 75-35 in Northwest Conference action on Monday, Jan. 7.

The win improved the Lions to 11-1, 5-0 NWC while the Pioneers dropped to 0-11, 0-4 NWC.

Fakkema was 5 for 6 shooting for a career-high 10 points and DeGraaff was 3 for 3 shooting for six points.

'"I thought (Fakkema and DeGraaff) came off the bench and were really effective for us," Lynden coach Brian Roper said in a phone interview.

Zach Vis led the Lions with 12 points.

Brandon Gwinner led the Pioneers with 14 points.
