Q. How far in advance should a couple start planning their honeymoon?

A. One year.

Q. Where would you recommend a Whatcom couple go if they only have two or three days for their honeymoon?

A. Victoria, Whistler and the Oregon Coast can all be reached by car. San Francisco and Las Vegas have short flights (less than 2 hours) and the airfare (if clients plan ahead) is usually very affordable. All the cities have a wide range of activities, beautiful scenery, many hotel and restaurant choices.

Q. What are your favorite U.S. destinations for honeymoons?

A. Hawaii, California and Florida provide the sunshine and beaches most couples want. An added advantage to the U.S. destinations is that a passport is not required.

Q. What are your favorite international destinations for honeymoons?

A. Europe, usually a more expensive option, is very romantic and offers lots of choices. The Caribbean and Mexico have sunshine, beaches and all-inclusive options.

Q. Why should a couple choose an all-inclusive resort destination?

A. Best value, no extra costs.

Q. How can a couple make the most of a cruise honeymoon?

Pre-arrange shore excursions, add a pre- or post-night stay, reserve specialty dining.

Q. What are some ideas for adventure honeymoons?

A. Biking in France, trekking in South America, snorkeling or diving trips.

Q. What's the most extravagant honeymoon you've ever booked?

A. Paradise Island (an island in the Bahamas known for the Atlantis resort).

Q. What are some tips for hosting out-of-town friends and family in Whatcom County?

A. Contact Bellingham AAA for assistance with blocking rooms at local hotels, arranging flights and car rentals, booking local tours, maps, tour books, day trip ideas.

Q. Where did you go on your honeymoon?

A. Alaska.
