OUTDOORS: Backcountry Film Festival coming to area

Published: January 6, 2013

The next stop for the eighth annual Winter Wildlands Alliance Backcountry Film Festival is The Mountaineers Program Center in Seattle’s Magnuson Park on Friday

The alliance created the festival in 2005 to help grass-roots and professional filmmakers show audiences their passion for the outdoors during the winter.

This year’s film selections include “Skiing the Void” by Sweetgrass Productions (best of the backcountry), “Alaska Wilderness Ski Classic” by Luc Mehl (best grass-roots film) and “Stories of Trust” by International Trust Campaign (best environmental film). Other film selections include “Unicorn Sashimi,” “Freedom Chair,” “Denali Experiment” and “Further.”

Tickets are $10 for general admission and $9 for Mountaineers members. They are available through brownpapertickets.com. For more information on the tour, go to backcountryfilmfestival.org.
