Published: January 6, 2013

Cambie Edwards scored a season-high 23 points to lead the Whatcom Community College women's basketball team to a come-from-behind 66-60 NWAACC win against Peninsula Saturday, Jan. 5, at Peninsula Community College.

The Orcas trailed 29-21 at halftime, but coach Sara Bergner said her side began "settling in" during the second half.

"It's our longest trip, and we have a lot of our players battling sickness," Bergner said. "Cambie Edwards played tough for us down the stretch. She scored some major baskets for us."

Amanda Tapia and Bree Park added 12 points each, and Erika Locker had nine in the win. Locker also pulled down a team-high nine rebounds.

Whatcom (8-5) earned its first NWAACC win and hosts Skagit Valley next at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9, at WCC.
