Since the tragic events in Newtown, Conn., the media and anti-2nd Amendment crowd have been going crazy. As usual, the only agenda they have is disarming 320 million Americans to stop a minuscule portion of our citizenry from killing us. Unfortunately that just makes the job easier for them!
What we should be doing is strengthening our mental health laws, make sure that records of mental health and criminal convictions are shared nationwide. Then make sure that violators of the felon-in-possession law are prosecuted to the full extent of the law instead of being slapped on the hand and released!
The PTA is against armed security being placed in schools, saying it might intimidate students, I think they would be reassured. Having someone to ensure their safety is more logical than what I believe to be the anti-authority rhetoric from the PTA.
As a retired deputy sheriff, a life member of the NRA, a father of four, and grandfather of nine, I take exception to the demonizing of NRA members by extremists who want to "kill NRA members."
We need the media to quit giving those with mental health issues and deviants their 15 minutes of fame when they do one of their horrendous acts, plus we need to quit glorifying violence in movies, games, and TV programs. We need to educate our society that good is preferable to evil.
