The Mount Baker boys' basketball team held on late in the fourth quarter to get a 36-34 win over Nooksack Valley in a Northwest Conference game Friday, Jan. 4.

"They tied the game up at 32 seconds left and Dalton Munsell was able to drive down and hit a jumper on the baseline to put us up," Mount Baker coach Rob Gray said in a phone interview. "They had a shot at the end but it rimmed out. They were able to cause some problems for us in the fourth quarter."

Mount Baker took a 23-15 lead at halftime and was up 27-20 to start the fourth quarter.

The Mountaineers (4-7, 1-2 NWC) were led by Munsell in scoring with 12 points, and Reuben Murashov, who scored six.

"Dalton played really well for us tonight," Gray said. "We also had a nice contribution from Conner Brandland, Jacob Oiness and Andrew Zender rebounding down low for us too."

Nooksack Valley (0-10, 0-3 NWC) was led in scoring by Seth Taron, who scored 16 points and had eight rebounds, and Brandon Gwinner, who scored 10.

Mount Baker hosts Sehome on Monday, Jan. 7, while the Pioneers will travel to Lynden, both Northwest Conference games.
