Nooksack girls' basketball takes early lead in 45-36 win over Mount Baker

The Nooksack Valley girls' basketball team defeated Mount Baker 45-36 in a Northwest Conference game Friday, Jan. 4, at Nooksack Valley High School.

"Both teams didn't shoot the ball very good in the first half," Nooksack Valley coach Shane Wichers said in a phone interview. "We had a good rhythm starting up at the end of the second and went up 16 at the end of third."

The Pioneers (9-2, 3-0 NWC) were led by Mariah Perry, who scored 13 points, and Morgan Perry, who scored eight and had 11 rebounds.

Mount Baker (5-6, 0-3 NWC) was led by Emily Brandland, who scored 10 points, and Emily Yost, who scored seven.

The Pioneers host Lynden on Tuesday, Jan. 8, while Mount Baker travels to Sehome, both Northwest Conference games.
