Lyncs girls struggle in third, fall 43-40 at home

Published: January 4, 2013

The Lynden Christian girls struggled in the third quarter in its 43-40 loss at home to Burlington-Edison on Thursday, Jan. 3, in a Northwest Conference game.

"We got out to a lead in the second quarter, but in the third we had a lot of turnovers and poor shooting," Lynden Christian coach Curt DeHaan said in a phone interview. "That was one thing that hurt us. Another was shooting 5-for-15 from the free throw line. You can't do that in a big game."

The Lyncs (9-2, 3-1 NWC) were led by Kara Bajema, who scored nine points, and Karley De Jager and Kayla Tiemersma, who each scored eight. Tiemersma added five rebounds for Lynden Christian.

The Lyncs will play at Anacortes on Monday, Jan. 7, in a Northwest Conference game.
