The Bellingham boys' basketball team earned a 70-51 win over Blaine in a Northwest Conference game Thursday, Jan. 3, in Bellingham.

"A lot of credit to Blaine, they played hard the whole game and we just got them a couple of times on the transition," Bellingham coach Ken Crawford said in a phone interview. "They are very athletic and we had to pay attention the whole time to get the win. We're glad to get by on this one."

The Red Raiders (8-5, 3-1 NWC) were led in scoring by Dante Check, who scored 15, and Alex Check, who scored 13.

"Dante had a great overall ball game," Crawford said. "I thought Darice Haywood also gave us a lot of strong minutes off the bench. Our bench scored 30 of our 70 points and played really well."

Blaine (3-8, 1-3 NWC) was led by Zach Rector, who scored 21 points and had seven rebounds, and Jericho Probadora, who scored 10 points and had three assists.

Bellingham travels to Squalicum on Monday, Jan. 7, while Blaine will play at Ferndale on Tuesday, Jan. 8.
