Goodwin ties for 39th at highly touted tournament

Western Washington University men's golfer Dylan Goodwin tied for 39th place in a field of 82 at the Patriot All-America Invitational which ended Monday, Dec. 31, at The Wigwam Golf Club Gold Course.

The three-day, 54-hole stroke-play event, which featured 82 of the nation's top collegiate golfers, benefited the Folds of Honor Foundation.

Goodwin posted rounds of 74, 75 and 74 for a 223 total, 13-over par.

Sebastian Cappelen birdied the 18th hole for a one-shot victory. His three-round 4-under 206 (68-70-68) bested Kevin Penner (68-70-69) by one stroke.

A senior from Mukilteo, Goodwin has earned third-team GCAA PING All-America honors in each of his last two years at WWU. He has led the Vikings in stroke average both seasons, averaging 72.9 in 2011 and 72.5 in 2012.
