Jones wins GNAC Player of the Week honors

Published: January 1, 2013

Western Washington University forward Paul Jones has been selected Red Lion/Great Northwest Athletic Conference men's basketball Player of the Week for Dec. 23-31.

Jones, a senior from Kent, had 26 points, six rebounds and two blocks in leading the Vikings to a 98-62 non-conference victory over Thompson Rivers B.C.

WWU, off to a 10-0 start, extended its winning streak over two seasons to 16 with the win. That is the second-longest victory string in both school and GNAC history.

Jones, a preseason GNAC all-star pick, is averaging 15.7 points per game and 6.5 rebounds. He leads the GNAC in 3-point accuracy at 70.6 percent (12 of 17) and is shooting 62.9 percent (49 of 79) overall from the field.
