CONSERVATION: Speakers address sustainability efforts

The Discovery Speaker Series in Olympia continues Thursday with a presentation on sustainability.

Jonathan Scherch of Antioch University in Seattle will be the speaker. Scherch will premier his short film, “Sustainability in Exile,” and follow it with a presentation highlighting sustainable practices in the Puget Sound region that are similar to those he observed overseas.

Among the Antioch classes he teaches are sustainable agriculture and permaculture design. Scherch also is the founder and executive director of Pacific Bamboo Resources.

The free event will be held at LOTT Water Education Center, 500 NE Adams, Olympia. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., while the presentation begins at 7 p.m.
