Committee to name Meridian's new elementary needs members

Published: December 30, 2012

LAUREL - Meridian School District is putting together a committee to narrow down names for its new elementary school, and it's looking for people to join.

The committee will consist of three parents, three district alumni, two community members and two staff members each from Irene Reither Primary School and from Ten Mile Creek Elementary.

The group will compile names for the new school and narrow them to three to five choices that they will send to the School Board for consideration.

To apply, email Jill Iwasaki at jiwasaki@meridian.wednet.edu with your name, contact information and which category you fall under. The subject line should read "Name the School Committee."

Applicants must be available for meetings from 7 to 8 p.m. Jan. 21 and 28 at Irene Reither.

A drawing to select members will take place Jan. 17; people will be notified that they've been chosen for the committee by 4 p.m. Jan. 18.

People can email name ideas for the school to Iwasaki by Jan. 17.
