Meridian boys lose 41-38 in Sundome Shootout

Published: December 29, 2012

The Meridian boys' basketball team fell 41-38 in the SunDome Shootout in Yakima to Chehalis W.F. West on Friday, Dec. 28.

"It started off slow which is what you expect in the SunDome shooting wise," Meridian coach Shane Stacy said in a phone interview. "We had a couple breakdowns late in the game and had a 12 point lead slip away in the fourth quarter."

The Trojans were led by Edward Garcia, who scored 13 points, Alijah Garcia, who scored 11, and Spencer Blackburn, who scored six.

"Spencer played really well down low for us," Stacy said. "I think he was in double figures rebounding too. We had the opportunities to win it, but a couple missed free throws really hurt us down the stretch."

Meridian will play White River in the Shootout on Saturday, Dec. 29.
