The Sehome girls' basketball team lost to Cashmere 59-46 in the Cloud 9 Sports Lynden Christmas Classic on Friday, Dec. 28, in Lynden.
"We played with a lot more energy than we did last night which was a huge positive," Sehome coach Kim Kirk said in a phone interview. "Cashmere is an aggressive in-your-face team and they are hard to defend."
Sehome had a much better second half and outscored Cashmere 27-24, but was unable to overcome an 18 point deficit from the first.
"We were able to attack the basket more in the second and that got a lot more free throws for us," Kirk said. "I thought Hallie Messenger played really well tonight too. Besides the 13 points she had four offensive rebounds and really tried to make things happen if she wasn't scoring from the outside."
Sehome will next play in a Northwest Conference game at Ferndale on Friday, Jan. 4.
