The Ferndale girls' basketball team wasn't able to make any of the four shots it took in the final seconds in its 46-45 loss to Ballard at the Rebel Challenge on Friday, Dec. 28.
"We were down 28-14 at half and couldn't put the ball in the hole," Ferndale coach Mike Ivy said in a phone interview. "Linsey Honeycutt was our only answer tonight. She was the only one making anything."
Honeycutt scored 18 of her 28 points in the second half. The team was one win away from owning the school record for consecutive wins in a season, but fell just short and will remain tied at nine wins.
"We were more composed in the second half and moved the ball better," Ivy said. "I'm proud of the team for fighting back."
Ferndale will play Juanita in the Challenge on Saturday, Dec. 29.
