The Bellingham boys' basketball team defeated Cascade 78-62 in the Prostock Winter Classic on Thursday, Dec. 27, in Bellingham.

"We didn't play as consistent and we needed to," Bellingham coach Ken Crawford said in a phone interview. "Cascade played really well and is a young team. We had some glimpses of our style and I was pleased with that."

Bellingham was led by Kailen Hayes, who scored 17 points, and Nick Zeegers, who scored 15.

"It was a closer game than the score and it wasn't comfortable throughout," Crawford said. "It's another step in the learning process."

Bellingham will play Mount Vernon in the Classic on Friday, Dec. 28.
