Bajema's last second basket lifts Lyncs girls to 48-47 win in Classic

Kara Bajema made a basket with 1 second remaining to give the Lynden Christian girls' basketball team a 48-47 win over Cashmere in the Cloud 9 Sports Lynden Christmas Classic on Thursday, Dec. 27.

"It was a close game throughout," Lynden Christian coach Curt DeHaan said in a phone interview. "They took a one point lead with eight seconds to go and we came down and Courtney Hollander had a nice assist to Bajema with a second left."

The Lyncs were led in scoring by Kayla Tiemersma with 11 points and 13 rebounds, and Karley De Jager, who scored eight points.

DeHaan said a major factor in the win was Makayla Lancaster held Cashmere's leading scorer, Angela Knishka, to only four points.

Lynden Christian will play Bellevue Christian in the Classic on Friday, Dec. 28.
