The Northwest Indian College men's basketball team will travel to Bozeman, Mont., to take on NCAA Division I Montana State University on Saturday, Dec. 29.
NWIC is a tribally-chartered school headquartered on the Lummi Nation with approximately 850 full-time-equivalent students at its seven locations on reservations throughout Washington and Idaho. The Eagles will be going up against a school with more than 11,000 full-time students on Saturday.
The Eagles, who won the AIHEC championship last season, enter with a 12-15 record.
"I think it's frustrating for the guys that they know they are competing hard against these teams and coming up short," coach Greg Mahle said in a press release, "but the overall goal is to win another AIHEC championship, and I think we're playing the right teams to do that."
Saturday's game, which is set to tip at 6 p.m. Pacific Standard Time, will be streamed on the Bobcats' website at msubobcats.com/index.aspx?tab=basketball&path=mbball.
