Squalicum boys' basketball loses on last-second free throws

Published: December 23, 2012

White Rock Christian guard Tyus Allen scored two free throws with 6 seconds left to hand Squalicum boys' basketball its fourth-straight loss, as the Storm fell 60-58 in a non-conference matinee Saturday, Dec. 22, at Squalicum High School.

Tied at 58, Squalicum's Alex Yuska missed a 3-pointer with 48 seconds left, and on the ensuing possession, Allen was fouled and sent to the line.

Blake Youtsey scored a team-high 18 points, Blake Harmon hit three 3-pointers and scored 16 and Yuska added 15. Allen led White Rock Christian with 23 points.

"It was an afternoon game, and everyone was watching the Huskies' game, so we had to kind of create our own energy," Squalicum coach Dave Dickson said in a phone interview. "We were up and down. I thought Blake Harmon played well. He had 16 points and was very aggressive defensively."

Squalicum plays in the Crush in the Slush Tournament next Friday, Dec. 28, in Port Townsend.
