Stadt scores 16, as Pioneers win fourth straight

Nooksack Valley scored 22 points in the second quarter, Melissa Stadt scored a team-high 16 points and the Pioneers won their fourth straight with a 51-30 non-conference win against Friday Harbor on Saturday, Dec. 22, in Friday Harbor.

After trailing 6-4 after 8 minutes, the Pioneers rebounded by taking a 26-12 lead into halftime.

"We were playing at a different time than we are used to, and getting off the ferry, our kids came out a little bit slow," Nooksack Valley coach Shane Wichers said in a phone interview. "In the second quarter, we got our rhythm."

Lindsay Hayes added eight points, and Lauren Dykstra, who received praise by Wichers for her play off the bench, scored six points.

The Pioneers (7-1, 2-0 NWC) play in the Lakewood Tournament next on Thursday, Dec. 27, in Arlington.
