Lummi girls' basketball earns first win 41-33

Published: December 22, 2012

The Lummi girls' basketball team earned their first win of the season, 41-33, at home against Highland Christian on Friday, Dec. 21, in a Northwest Conference 1B game.

"The kids responded really well to some adjustments that we made and stepped into their roles," Lummi coach Woody Bakke said in a phone interview. "We were up by 10 early in the second and then only by one at half so we had to make some adjustments in the lineup."

Bakke said the keys were assistant coach Amanda Cultee's adjustments and the players responding to them well.

"It was a solid game with a lot of shots and a lot of hustle," Bakke said. "They played hard and really helped each other out."

Lummi (1-6, 1-3 NW1B) will play at Grace Academy on Friday, Jan. 4.
