The Ferndale girls' basketball team defeated Oak Harbor 70-48 in a non-conference game Friday, Dec. 21, in Oak Harbor.

"We knew going in that they had a solid player (in Annie Leete)," Ferndale coach Mike Ivy said in a phone interview. "She scored a couple 3-pointers early but we did a good job shutting her down."

Ferndale (8-0, 3-0 NWC) only allowed 14 points in the second and third quarters combined, while it scored 35 of its own.

"It was a total team effort," Ivy said. "Everyone scored for the second night in a row and Linsey Honeycutt had another double-double."

Koral Weidkamp led the Golden Eagles in scoring with 14 and Honeycutt added 12 points and 10 rebounds.

Ferndale will play in the Juanita Challenge on Thursday, Dec. 27.
