The Bellingham boys' basketball team outscored Meridian 19-10 in the fourth quarter and beat the Trojans 55-46 in a Northwest Conference game Friday, Dec. 21, at Meridian.
The Trojans trailed 26-18 at half but rallied to tie the score heading into the fourth. Meridian coach Shane Stacy said the Red Raiders eventually wore his team down.
"We did a good job of coming out in the third quarter and doubling our score," Stacy said in a phone interview. "Bellingham is extremely athletic and is playing poised basketball right now. We couldn't keep up in the end."
Meridian's Spencer Blackburn had a team-high in points (nine) and rebounds (11), and Sam Chambers scored seven points. Bellingham's Kailen Hayes and Kyle Redmond each scored 12 points, and Nick Zeegers added 11.
Bellingham (6-4, 2-1 NWC) will host Cascade on Thursday, Dec. 27, while Meridian (5-3, 1-2) will play in the SunDome Tournament on Friday, Dec. 28.
