Squalicum's Meghan Lowry scored a team-high 14 points, but despite improved team play, the Storm lost to city-rival Sehome 62-50 in a Northwest Conference game Thursday, Dec. 20, at Squalicum High School.
"This was one of our better overall performances," Squalicum coach Mark Wright said in a phone interview. "Meghan was terrific tonight, and she expended a lot of energy guarding Rachel Albert offensively."
Squalicum (0-8, 0-3 NWC) cut Sehome's lead to one point in the third quarter, but the Mariners (6-3, 3-0 NWC) promptly went on a 14-2 run.
Mariners' Hallie Messenger scored a game-high 17 points, Albert scored 13 and Meagan McIntyre and Maddy Bryan added 11. The Storm's Janna Poradun scored 13.
Sehome will play in the Lynden Christmas Tournament on Thursday, Dec. 27, while Squalicum plays in the Archbishop Murphy Tournament
