Sehome swims past Kentwood in double-dual with Bellingham

Bellingham diver Andrew Twedt won the diving event in a double-dual meet against Kentwood and Sehome on Thursday, Dec. 20, with a score of 117.

Bellingham lost to Kentwood 121-61 and Sehome defeated Kentwood 116-67. Bellingham and Sehome did not compete against one another.

"Andrew is a new diver and has really improved since his last meet," Bellingham coach Jeff Anderson said in a phone interview. "Last time he scored an 88 and he went up to 117 this time."

The Bellingham team also has a couple swimmers from Ferndale that performed well in the meet. Louis Hunter swam in the 200 freestyle and Jonathan Chang swam the 200 individual medley and the 100 butterfly.

Sehome was led by Isaiah Grambo, who won the 50 freestyle with a time of 23.29, the 100 butterfly in 58.14 and was part of the winning 200 freestyle and 200 medley relay teams.

"The kids are really training hard and we are getting the times that we would like to be getting," Sehome coach Don Helling said in a phone interview. "It was a fun meet that we don't normally get to do and it was a good experience and a good way to go into the holidays."

Sehome will swim against Bellingham on Thursday, Jan. 3.
