Second half surge lifts Ferndale boys' basketball over Sedro-Woolley

Published: December 21, 2012

Brady Shearer had a huge second half for the Ferndale boys' basketball team as it defeated Sedro-Woolley at home in a Northwest Conference game Thursday, Dec. 20.

"We came out and really played a good first quarter and didn't have that good of a second," Ferndale coach Monte Walton said in a phone interview. "At half we challenged them to come out with fire and we were able to outscore them both quarters."

Shearer scored all 17 of his points in the second half for the Golden Eagles (4-4, 2-1 NWC). Cameron Massey scored 11 points and had 12 rebounds and Austin Honeycutt added 16 for Ferndale.

"Kendall Kelly came on for us off the bench because he has had an injury and hit three really big 3-pointers for us in the third quarter," Walton said. "Massey gave us a really good contribution and Honeycutt was also solid again."

Ferndale hosts Oak Harbor on Friday, Dec. 21.
