Slater Road near Ferndale reopens Friday

Published: December 20, 2012

FERNDALE - Slater Road reopens at 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 21, at the Nooksack River Bridge.

Traffic on the bridge will be reduced to a single lane, directed by flaggers, for the next two or three days. Crews will finish cosmetic and non-structural repairs.

The bridge's steel supports were damaged Dec. 1 when struck by a tractor-trailer carrying a high load.

Until the bridge reopens, drivers are advised to reach Cherry Point, the Lummi Reservation and other destinations west of the bridge by going through downtown Ferndale to the north, or taking Marine Drive from the south.
