The Nooksack Valley girls' basketball team shot 67 percent from the field, and Melissa Stadt scored a game-high 23 points to lead the Pioneers to a 65-56 Northwest Conference win against Blaine Tuesday, Dec. 18, in Blaine.

"It's tough to beat a bad team, let alone a good team like Nooksack, when it shoots 67 percent from the field and is 77 percent from the free-throw line," Blaine coach Ryan Pike said in a phone interview.

Stadt hauled in a team-high six rebounds to accompany her 23 points, Lindsay Hayes added 12 points and Lindy Swanson scored 10. Blaine's Breanna Chau hit four 3s, and led the Borderites with 21 points. Taylor V'Dovec got in foul trouble early and scored just two points.

Blaine (4-3, 0-2 NWC) will play at Anacortes on Friday, Dec. 21, in a Northwest Conference game, while the Pioneers (6-1, 2-0) travel to Friday Harbor on Saturday, Dec. 22.
