Emily Yost led a second-half surge with 18 points for the Mount Baker girls' basketball team in its 59-36 win at Friday Harbor on Tuesday, Dec. 18.
"It was really close in the first half," Mount Baker coach Brenda Ellis said in a phone interview. "It took us a while to get rid of our ferry legs and take off in the second half. They played really well, and we didn't have a rhythm on offense."
Ellis said she challenged the captains to step up at halftime and that Yost really did with her second half performance.
Yost scored 20 points in the game, and Korrinna Camacho added 11 more for the Mountaineers (4-3, 0-1 NWC).
"Emily Yost stepped up and got it done," Ellis said. "She had a lot of fire in the second half, and it was awesome to see her step up."
Mount Baker hosts Lynden Christian on Friday, Dec. 21.
