My answer to the Catholic law professor's view that the votes for gay marriage and legalizing pot "reflect individuals disconnecting from the rest of society," is that he and his ilk are the ones who are out of touch. Furthermore, any church whose priestly culture I believe sanctions the raping of little boys is morally bankrupt and has nothing to teach anybody about morality. Even now, the church still tries to weasel out of accountability for these crimes.
I also find it baffling that the conservative Christian political consultant from Seattle cites the historical burning of people at the stake as evidence that moral deterioration is not irreversible. Does he mean that humanity was in a higher state of morality in the middle ages? Is being burned at the stake what awaits us when these self-appointed guardians of true morality are back in power?
