Golden Eagles fall on road to Tigers in boys' basketball

Published: December 18, 2012

The Ferndale boys' basketball team couldn't keep up with host Burlington-Edison on the boards in a 72-54 Northwest Conference loss on Monday, Dec. 17.

The loss dropped the Golden Eagles to 3-4, 1-1 NWC while the Tigers improved to 7-2, 2-0 NWC.

Ferndale was outrebounded 45-32 in the game and led 40-18 at halftime.

"We just didn't come out and rebound and that was the difference," Ferndale coach Monte Walton said in a phone interview. "They had too many offensive putbacks in the first half."

The Golden Eagles played without leading scorer Kendall Kelly, who was out with an injury.

Ferndale was led by Austin Honeycutt with 13 points and Brady Shearer with 11 points.

Ferndale hosts Sedro-Woolley on Thursday, Dec. 20.
