Big second quarter lifts Blaine over Nooksack Valley

All five of Blaine's 3-pointers came in a 25-point second period and the Borderites won 61-41 at Nooksack Valley in Northwest Conference boys' basketball action on Monday, Dec. 17.

The win improved the Borderites to 2-5, 1-1 NWC while the Pioneers dropped to 0-8, 0-2 NWC.

Blaine was up by one after the first quarter until a 25-point second quarter put the Borderites up by 11 at halftime.

"We had some shots fall and that helped us build the lead," Blaine coach Shaun Pile said in a phone interview.

Gabe Trump led the Borderites with 16 points while Josiah Westbrook had 12 points and Ivan Sanchez had 10 points.

Nooksack Valley was led by Brandon Gwinner with 12 points.
