Says Medicare not an entitlement

Published: December 18, 2012

When did a program I paid into for over 40 years become an entitlement? Was this not my money?

If you put into a 401(k) does that become an entitlement? I think not. Yes, we need to cut goverment spending and we do need to increase revenue. But we must do it fairly, not just on the backs of the middle class. Also I paid into Mecicare since it was signed into law. Also my money. I still pay over $400 dollars a month for health care coverage with Medicare and supplemental insurance.

I don't belive these are entitements when you pay for them. Let's cut the $400 toilet seats and $200 hammers from defense and cut some of the other fat before we cut Social Security and Medicare. And yes, I am a vetern and want a strong military but cuts must happen everywhere, not just entitlements. People, join me in writting our Congress and president. Compromise is needed. Just get it done!
