Whatcom Community College's Kyle Impero scored a game-high 27 points, and Alex Duncan scored 14, had a team-high nine boards and handed out a team-high four assists, as the Orcas overcame a halftime deficit to beat Chemeketa 93-83 during the Bellevue Crossover Tournament Saturday, Dec. 15, in Bellevue.
WCC trailed 40-31 at half, but outscored Chemeketa 62-43 in the second half.
"They were a tough team in the first half," Whatcom coach Chris Scrimsher said in a phone interview. "They made us switched things up at halftime, because they were playing with four guards. Alex has been coming along and playing with more confidence each game."
Nicholas Kussman scored 13 for Whatcom, Zach Stalin added 15 and Chris Tanis scored 11.
Whatcom plays in the title game against either Pierce or Bellevue Community College at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16.
