Bellingham School District has fine showing in gymnastics meet

The Bellingham School District gymnastics team's Catalina Fitzpatrick placed first in the all-around, second in the vault and third on the bars to lead the team during a meet Saturday, Dec. 15, at Cascade Elite Gymnastics in Mountlake Terrace.

Fitzpatrick scored a 29.7 in the all-around, a 7.5 in the vault and a 5.8 on the bars. Squalicum High School's Madi Krussow placed first in floor exercise with a score of 8.0, and was third in all-around with 26.0 points. Sehome's Zoe Bunnell took first on the bars with a score of 7.5, tied for fourth in the all-around with 25.8 points and placed third in floor exercise with 6.5 points.

Other placers were Bellingham High's Sage Stevenson, who took third with a score of 7.6 on the beam. Teammate Natasha Aven placed fifth on the beam with a 7.4. Aven tied for fourth in the all-around with 25.8 points, and scored a sixth-place finish in the vault.

Six teams competed in the meet, and a competitor from another school contributed to Bellingham School District's all-around scores.
