Honeycutt, Massey lead Golden Eagles to win

Ferndale freshman Austin Honeycutt scored a team-high 15 points and Cameron Massey added 12, as the Golden Eagles earned a 53-43 Northwest Conference win against Mount Baker Friday, Dec. 14, at Ferndale.

The Golden Eagles led 22-20 at halftime, but Ferndale outscored Baker 19-12 in the third quarter to help seal the win.

"Austin has been playing pretty well, and he did it again tonight," Ferndale coach Monte Walton said in a phone interview. "Brady (Shearer) came off the bench and got us nine, and Cameron Massey did a real good job of rebounding in the second half.

Mount Baker was led by Rueben Murashov's game-high 18 points. He also hauled in a game-high 14 boards.

The Mountaineers (1-5) host Sehome on Saturday, Dec. 15 in a non-conference game, while Ferndale (3-3) travels to Burlington-Edison on Monday, Dec. 17.
