The Lynden Christian boys' basketball team shot 55 percent from the floor and beat Blaine 71-29 in a Northwest Conference game, Friday, Dec. 14, in Lynden.
"Obviously it was a night where Lynden Christian shot the ball well and Blaine did not," Lynden Christian coach Roger DeBoer said in a phone interview. "We also took advantage of 21 turnovers and created 21 points off turnovers."
Lynden Christian (4-2, 1-0) was 26 for 47 from the court and was led by Zach Roetcisoender's 15 points and 17 from Daulton Hommes.
"Great job by the two young kids to lead scoring, but a great team effort," DeBoer said. "I thought Truman Van Dalen was great off the bench, and Levi Vander Yacht held Zach Rector scoreless and did a great job defensively."
Van Dalen had eight points, four rebounds, six assists and four steals for the Lyncs.
Blaine (1-5, 0-1) was led by Josiah Westbrook and Jericho Probadora, who each scored 10 points.
Blaine travels to Nooksack Valley on Monday, Dec. 17, while the Lyncs play at Bellingham on Tuesday, Dec. 18.
