The Ferndale girls' basketball team beat Mount Baker 70-46 in a Northwest Conference game on Friday, Dec. 14.
"I thought we did well for the most part, but had a couple lapses," Mount Baker coach Brenda Ellis said in a phone interview. "Ferndale is such a good team and if you let down at all, they will take it to you."
The Golden Eagles (5-0, 1-0 NWC) were led by Taylor Reid, who scored 16 points and had five steals, and six assists. Linsey Honeycutt also scored 16.
Emily Brandland led the Mountaineers (3-3, 1-0) with 16 points, while Rayedeen Engels had 11.
"We had a couple of times where we couldn't do anything on offense," Ellis said. "But I thought my girls battled really hard."
Ferndale hosts Burlington-Edison on Tuesday, Dec. 18, while Mount Baker (3-3, 0-1) travels to Friday Harbor for a non-conference matchup.
